And just like natural diamonds their value increases over time. Many people love to collect and work with the wide variety of gemstones available today. First off you'll need the knowledge on the wide variety of stones available. This knowledge will help you to know what you're buying and prevent you from wasting your money. This will help you make informed decisions.
To start with, an important aspect in gemstone evaluation is color. Gemstones are the most intensely colored natural material available on earth. Gemstones are so related to color that they have even lent their names to specific colors. And in Canada you can hunt for nephrite jade in Cry Lake, British Columbia or sodalite and rose quartz near Bancroft, Ontario and even Ammolite, a rare gemstone found only in southern Alberta.
